It just ends up dribble...

Is it just me or are the Harlem Globetrotters essentially the evolution of the minstrel show. Instead of music, the skill focused on is basketball. They combine basketball skills with goofy hi-jinks, through use of black characters. This becomes a way of characterizing black people as good at basketball and unthreatening through their goofiness. Providing a lens through which white people can see black people in a politically correct and non-intimidating way. It just seems slightly racist to me stereotyping them as skilled buffoons somehow lower than white folk.
